
Advanced A channel creation
In the previous tutorials we learned how to smooth the A channels so they look good in the game. Well in this tutorial were going to learn a simple technique that will make the A channels crystal clear you won't even be able to tell them apart from maxis objects!
First clone an object it can be any object I've used the head sculpture from original sims. Export the sprites making out your going to change the shape. But instead of editing the shape import the sprites back in than export them again so we can edit the A and Z channels since you should know how to do this by now there's no point in explaining it in detail here! Once you've exported the A channels open them in PSP.
Now zoom in close on 1 of the A channels and select the magic wand tool.


O.k now using the magic wand click on the GREY part surrounding the entire object. Make sure all the grey is selected.

Now like before use the edge preserving smooth filter using the attributes below. Click o.k when done.

Now for the trick hold down SHIFT + B to enter the alter brightness control panel. In the brightness type -30 click o.k when done your A channel should now like something like the 2nd image.


That's it now import the sprites back into t-mog if you have done everything correctly your object should be crystal clear smooth!
There you have it the trick to making perfect A channels! Sometimes in an object when you go to select the grey part surrounding the object it won't select all the grey bits to get around this simply hold down shift and click on the other grey parts.
