Advanced Cloning Part 1
Here you will learn how to apply any texture to an existing object.
|
Clone object: Once again the first thing to do is clone your object. Since you already (or should) know how to do this I'll just skip to the export screen. For this tutorial clone the 2 tiled bathtub. Make sure the values are the same as the image below than export your sprites. |

Open sprites: Open all the sprites in the following folders below.
Add layer: Select a sprite with the magic wand tool (doesn't matter which 1) and increase the colors to 24 bit (Shift+ctrl+0) and add a layer to it making sure the values are the same as below.
Open image: Now open the image we are going to use for this tutorial (the 1 you downloaded above)
Select sprite: Now push Shift+Ctrl+I this will invert the selection making sure only the object and nothing else is selected. if that shortcut don't work in selections menu choose invert.
Apply image to object: Select the palette image and choose copy (Ctrl+C) now select the sprite again and choose paste image into selection (Shift+Ctrl+L) something similar to the image below should happen.
Select layer effect: Make sure the layer tab is showing if it's not in the toolbar choose view - toolbars and make sure layer palette is ticked. Now select the layer and click on the arrow you will see a dropdown menu choose Multiply.
Image wraps around object!: Now notice how the palette image wraps itself around the object while keeping it's shape making it look a whole lot better? Repeat the steps with all the sprites than save them and get back to t-mog. Oh yeah don't forget to lower the colors of each sprite back to 256 colors (Shift+Ctrl+9) before you save!
Final result: When back in t-mog your bath should now look something like the image below. Your done!
That's how to apply textures to an object. This method works most of the time it works better on white objects than any other color though. Were not done yet click the Link below to proceed to the 2nd part of advanced cloning!
