Basic Colouring
This tutorial teaches you how to change simple colors of any object. There are 4 coloring ways explained all below. Wait for the images to load than read on!
Pick a base object: The first thing we need to do is pick an object to clone from in t-mog so we'll do that now. Open t-mog if you haven't already done and push S this will jump down to the sculptures choose sculptures 2 (If you don't have LL choose sculptures 1 and pick a 1 tiled sculpture with only 1 view.) now select a sculpture with 1 view (no back view)
Clone the object: Push the clone object file button and give your object a name. For now we'll just leave it as it is.
Select export type: Now make sure Just change colors is selected and leave everything else. When ready push the o.k button.
Store the XML file: Select a folder and directory to store your XML file and make sure you know where you put it. Give your xml file a name it can be anything I usually just type in numbers.
Open sprites folder: O.k open paint shop pro and open your object's sprites. You will find them in the directory and folder you saved your XML file. The object we are cloning only has 1 sprite so open it's folder.
Open the sprite: Select the bitmap file containing the sprite there should be only 1.
Look at sprites: O.k this is what the sprite looks like. The image is the actual object, the yellow background will be erased once it is imported back into t-mog. It's now time to change the colors I have 4 ways of doing this.
Hue/saturation/lightness: The first method is used by pushing Shift+H in paint shop pro this opens a window like below. This method of coloring will change all the colors in the object not just 1! Have a play around with the hue slider bar notice how all the colors change? The saturation bar makes the object more or less vibrant and the brightness makes it lighter or darker.
Colorize: The second method is colorizing Shift+L. This just changes the object to 1 color the hue slider (Grab the blue bar) changes the color and the saturation makes it more or less vibrant.
Red/green/blue: The third method is altering the RGB Shift+U. With this method you can alter the RGB values manually you can get some pretty interesting color effects with this 1! Simply move the slider bars in the red, green and blue.
Gamma: The final method is gamma correction. With this method it is possible to give your object a metallic look! Look at what values I have put below to achieve a metallic effect.
Save than back to t-mog: Once you have your desired color effect save the sprite than get back to t-mog. Click the import object file and select your XML file. The object has now changed color.
Look at object: Take a look at the object everything should be perfect since you haven't changed the object's shape. Now just give your object a description, name and change the price (if you wish) and your done!
That's how to color an object (or at least how I do it) The next tutorial explains how to add textures to an object!
